Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get started?
The first step would be to book a free 15-minute consultation via phone or video call. If it feels like a good fit, I will send you some forms to complete. Once the forms are done, we can schedule an initial intake session, where I learn more about who you are, and we can set some goals for therapy.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance. The consultation is free. However, all sessions moving forward are to be paid out-of-pocket. Many insurance companies have strict requirements for engaging in therapy. Self-pay therapy allows us the flexibility to create a personalized treatment plan, take the time needed to form an accurate diagnosis, and work at a pace that suits your therapeutic goals.
If you have Medicare, I am unable to see you, even if you are willing to proceed with self-pay.
Do you have a sliding scale for fees?
Currently, I do not offer a sliding scale. All sessions are billed at a flat rate of $155 per session, which lasts 50 minutes.
Do you offer in-person treatment?
All sessions are offered exclusively via telehealth using a HIPAA-compliant electronic health record (EHR) system.
Do you see children?
Therapy at Firmly Rooted Counseling (FRC) is for those 18+.
How long should I be in therapy?
The duration of therapy depends on your goals and needs, with many people noticing improvements in 5-6 months, while others continue for a year or more. Factors like finances, scheduling, and your satisfaction can also influence the timeline.
You lead the therapeutic journey, and I’m here for as long as it benefits you—no obligations or time commitments required.
How often do I need to attend therapy?
I recommend starting with weekly sessions as this helps build rapport and focus on your goals without losing momentum. Once your symptoms improve and you feel confident using the skills from therapy, we can discuss reducing session frequency.
If weekly sessions aren't affordable, biweekly is a great starting point. However, at this time, I do not schedule once-a-month sessions as they do not support meaningful progress.
